Discover Staten Island’s dynamic North Shore, brimming with local art and culture. Experience seven sound sculptures—from a 17-foot-long wind harp to an interactive drum totem—while strolling from the ferry terminal along Bay Street’s diverse storefronts and lively parks. Catch a breath in front of a 90-foot-long mural of the endangered Right Whale with views of the spectacular waterfront.
Sonic Gates is created by artist Volker Goetze. The public art project is an initiative of Future Culture launched by Staten Island Arts and the Design Trust for Public Space to foster community connections and shape a vision for culture on the North Shore of Staten Island.
